User Reviews about KETTLER Sprint Balance Bike (Princess)
I'm with the other reviewers on this product in that once you navigate the almost impossible instructions and get the bike together, it is very solid and durable. This is a bike that will last through several kids. I initially balked at the price as it seems very high for a bike she'll only use for a short time while learning to ride without training wheels, but the quality is such that you can sell it or pass it on.
My daughter loves the princess theme and spends as much time looking at it as she does trying to ride it. It's very cute which is important to little girls! -- solid balance bike, poor instructions
My 3-year-old gets very frustrated with his tricycle and big wheel. He wants to keep up with his big brother and he can't peddle fast enough and can't maintain the rhythm of it. I saw this and knew Kettler was a good brand so we tried it.
This was the perfect solution. He was 2 1/2 when we first put him on it. After three or four days of struggling a bit, wanting to be pushed, not understanding how to pick it up once it's on the ground, and dialing in the steering and pushing with his own feet...he was off! He can go so fast, coast with his feet up for 30-40 ft, and can even push through grass. He LOVES it! He can even do the kick stand too, which is a really nice feature in my opinion. He doesn't understand the brake yet, but really no need for it so far. He just puts his feet down when he wants to slow down. It is also nice that the seat post has a wide range of adjustment...It is near the lowest right now...he will be able to use it for several years as it will grow with him. He feels like a big boy! Mission accomplished!
The bike is very high quality materials and construction. It is a bit heavy, but our son doesn't seem to have problems with that (only initially when it fell over and he couldn't figure out how to pick it up.) We did not have any problems putting it together or blowing up the tires - maybe because we buy a lot of things online that you have to assemble somewhat and know what to expect, and we are avid cyclists...
-- Great for little kids that want to be big
We got this bike for my son's 3rd birthday. He didn't get to use it much because of the weather until just the past couple of months, and now at just over 3 1/2 he is a pro. I think he's ready for a bike with pedals!
That's my only "complaint" about this bike. Kids learn to balance so quickly! It almost seems like the type of product that bike shops should rent out. The only reason I'd want to get him on a real bike is that the hand brake on this one is hard for him to operate. If he picks up speed he has to drag his feet to slow down. Luckily he has very sturdy shoes!
The other thing I love about this bike is that it allows kids to go up hills. My son rides his bike to drop off his sister at school each day and there is a big hill. Unlike the kids with regular bikes he is still able to scoot his way up, and it is a fairly steep hill. Luckily when he goes down the hill he understands that he needs to control his speed, which he does by dragging his feet.
If I had it to do over, I would have bought this bike for my son's 2nd birthday!
-- Awesome bike. Does its job almost too well!
I was very pleased with the balance bike - it went together very easily. In fact, some of the instructions were not necessary because several of the steps in the assembly process had already been done at the factory. No problems! -- Excellent Product
