User Reviews about Razor A5 Lux Scooter
It serves its purpose as an adult scooter. One thing that would've been nice to have is a lock on the steering handle to prevent the base from swiveling when it's being carried (folded). -- Serves its purpose
I bought this scooter for my 17-year old son who has difficulty walking. It helps him to get around. Overall, it does a good job, but there are a couple of issues. One is that the handlebar is too low, even though the scooter is marketed for adults (my son is about 5'8"). Also, the handles have sharp edges which dig into his palms. The other issue is more important. The scooter is very hard to fold and unfold. We do it a lot when we travel and put it in the trunk, then take it out at each stop. The little lever at the bottom that you have to pull up in order to fold or unfold the scooter is always stuck, and it takes a lot of time and effort to do the job. I wonder if anyone has advice on how to fix it; otherwise I may have to return it as defective. -- Good scooter, but some problems
We purchased two scooters and have owned them for only 4 months, we were happy with the product until they started rusting. After only 4 months the front spokes, back break fender and the main pivot pin are completely rusted. We live in Florida, but the scooters are kept in a garage. I am disappointed because we were under the impression that they would not rust. Too bad because otherwise we have been happy and enjoying them. We also own a Xootr scooter for over a year and not a trace of rust. -- Rust bucket
This scooter is awesome. It is fun to ride and it gets me where I need to go swiftly. It is very sturdy and very portable. I can take it anywhere and then just fold it up and put it under a chair or in a closet. I love riding it down the street so I get the added value of having some fun/getting exercise while I'm commuting. I actually like the bigger wheels and the other day as I was walking with it I heard someone compliment the scooter.
I live in New York City and I'm about 5'11" 170 pounds. This handles my weight and height well. I don't have to crouch down to ride with this scooter. I usually can cover a city block in about two minutes. I'm not sure Razor can do anything about this but on some blocks if the street is not paved well I can feel every bump which can make for an uncomfortable ride. I generally avoid these blocks. -- I love it
The best bus route for me to get to work is just shy of 1 mile away. I got this scooter to cut down on my commute time and it has dramatically. It was taking me about 19 minutes to walk to the bus stop. I used the GPS on my phone and an application to track my speed and time. On this scooter I'm averaging 8.5mph and it is taking me only 7 minutes to get to the bus stop. When folded it's very easy to tuck under the seat on the bus. With my backpack I usually take up 2 seats which isn't an issue on the route I take as there are plenty of open seats. If the bus was packed full it might become an issue.
The ride is smooth enough for me and I haven't had any trouble with rocks or large bumps in the sidewalk. There are some spots that frequently have sprinklers running and when the tires get wet it can be hard to brake. Also the wheels tend to spray water up the backs of my legs.
Overall very satisfied especially at the price point offered here on Amazon. -- Great for commuting on the bus
